E-commerce platforms such as Shopee, Tiktok Shop,... publicly display total sold figures. By asking sellers directly, Metric were able to verify that these figures are correct.
For example: The sold record of a pair of shoes was displayed as followed:
Previous Tuesday: Sold 100
This Tuesday: Sold 800
Therefore, total sold items of this pair of shoes in one week is: 800 - 100 = 700
This is a demonstration of calculation of the number of sold products in 7 days on Metric. The same way goes for any length of time period for analysis. By continuously monitoring the total sold index everyday, Metric would calculate the total number of products sold in the inspected interval.
Continue with the previous example. The total revenue in 7 days will be calculated as followed:
Previous Tuesday: Sold 100
This Tuesday: Sold 800, at the same time, the price of this product was 100,000VND.
Total sold products in 7 days: 800 - 100 = 700
Total revenue in 7 days: 700 x 100,000VND = 70,000,000VND (from previous Tuesday to this Tuesday).
This is a demonstration of calculation of total revenue in 7 days on Metric. The same way goes for any length of time period for analysis.
Total Sales from Time Period A to B = Total Sold (A, B) x Product Price at Time B. So, by continuously recording the sold product index and product price, Metric could calculate the total number of sold products and total revenue for any time period.
After acknowledging the method of recording total sold products and total revenue, you would acquire 2 information:
The calculation of data is based on public indicators of e-commerce platforms.
Data is continuously verified from the shop sellers.
So, could you be able to verify the accuracy of the data for yourself on your own? Of course you can with these following steps.
Step 1: use a Metric account, select the platform on which your shop sells with customized time period of analysis.
Step 2: paste the seller (shop) link on the platform into the "Keyword" bar to analyze.
Step 3: Compare the data on the Metric analysis page with the revenue data in Shopee's "Paid Orders" section. You will see that the Metric data matches your shop's figures.
Therefore, the Metric data is the sales and paid orders data - NMV (Net Merchandise Value, which means that the buyer received the goods and did not return). To check, you need to look in the "Paid Orders" section in your store management page of the e-commerce platform.
Metric illustrated how to calculate the number of sold products in the above section. To check the shop's revenue using Metric software, you could paste the shop link into the Keyword box.
On the banhang.shopee.vn page (meaning Seller Center), go to Sales Analysis and select Order Type as “Paid Order”. Revenue statistics shown in Seller Center includes: Order value (including shipping fee), canceled and returned orders. As for the Metric analysis tool, it is calculated based on the number of sold products multiplied with selling price that occurred in the past period.
